lucky me

They didn't find cancer anywhere else. Great news! The Dr. is recommending just watch and wait. He will take my case to 'the board' with the oncologists and other melanoma surgeons and let me know Monday what they say.

I know it is not likely this thing is cured by surgery.

So I go over the What Ifs all the time. Most of them depressing. Everything that comes along with What If I die.

But I keep coming back to What If I live? What If I feel good this summer? What if I don't have cancer? What If I get to go everywhere I always wanted to go? What if life just gets better? What If I get to be anything I choose to be? What if I get to send my kids to college? What If I get the be an old lady? What If I live so long spring gets old?

Are those the possibilities everyone wakes up with? Lucky everyone! Lucky me that I even have a chance at that. Wow.

  1. What if you became a writer? You are amazing at it Alisa. I am glad you are writing all of this down not only for us, but for your journal and future generations. I'm glad to hear that news and am glad those blasted tumors are out not in. By the way, who could ever grow old enough that spring gets old?

  15. Hallelujah! I have tears in my eyes as I am so grateful for your news. Just when life appears grim, you receive a ray of sunshine. Appropriate to remember as it is snowing in April! I agree with Kandace that you should become a writer. As one who taught it, you have a gift. Those who can't, (like me) teach! You really should share your gift with others. That way, when we finally open our bookstore together, we can sell your books :)

  16. I am so happy with these results! We have been praying for you and going to the temple too. I think you have a lot of great 'what if's' to look forward to. What if you still get to go to Italy-for fun? What if I just stay in my pj's all day and watch Anne of Green Gables all day? (I totally just got my girls hooked on that!) Every time I watch that show I think of you and laugh! Love you lots and lots!!!
