The biggest fear for myself?  That we have seen the best of me.  That my progression has stopped.  That I will always have sadness in my eyes.

This weekend we made a quick trip the the National Park in Utah we have never seen.  It was delightful.  I was delightful.  And that surprised me.  Maybe I will be okay.

We stayed up late to go stargazing.  They say the Colorado Plateau has the clearest air in the 48 states.  There was no moon, and the stars blanketed the dark sky from horizon to horizon.  It was brilliant.  The wilderness holds such a powerful the peace.  I am grateful we have a most beautiful earth to face our ugly challenges on.

Josh declared he was in a good mood today.  I have been busy all day and happy.  The kids are doing great.  All is well (minus the evil cancer).

  6. Okay, you don't know me, I came across your blog in a round about way....but that doesn't matter, you are amazing. Truly, you inspire me. I lost my mom to cancer seven years ago, cancer is so horrible. The docs gave my mom 3 to 6 months, she lived 11 years....I am training for the Wasatch Back and a marathon, when I want to quit, I think about you and your will to live and it gives me strength. Sorry if that sounds creepy, ;). Sending lots of love and prayers to you, miracles totally happen....

  9. Lovely pictures, Alisa. Evil cancer is an understatement. Long before all of this, Bryanna used to tell me that cancer was the scariest thing in life and I didn't agree with her. I was a fool.

  13. Hi, Alisa. This is Brittany's brother, Christian. I've been stalking your blog periodically for updates. Your mentioning the view of the stars from the Colorado Plateau reminded me of a poem I've had on my mind lately as I've thought about you and another friend of mine battling cancer. I'm sure you've heard of "Good Timber." If not - here's a link: http://holyjoe.org/poetry/malloch.htm

You are literally and figuratively "holding counsel with the stars" now due to your experience - and you deserve it.

  14. Dear Alisa,
I've been thinking about you a lot today. At church today someone shared their testimony and related an experience of seeing children suffer at the ICU up at Primary's during a time when their daughter was sick. He said, like all of us he wondered why those children had to suffer so much, and how God could let such suffering happen? Then after much prayer, he came to the conclusion that even if we don't know "WHY?" there is someone who does and always will know "WHY." God knows the "WHY?" to our suffering. He knows what we need and what we are capable of. I've often wondered why you have to go through such a difficult trial? Why does such a horrible thing have to happen to such a good person? Today I was reminded that my perspective is so limited. Our Heavenly Father does love each and every one of us, and He is there to take on our burdens for "His yoke is easy, and His burden is light." (Matthew 11:29-30)
I'm sorry for the long post. I guess I just wanted you to know that you aren't alone and that I'm praying for you. You inspire me to be a better person in so many ways.
    Love you,
    Debbie
